Is my data really safe?
Yes. Your memories, their titles, descriptions, captions, and photo bytes are all end-to-end encrypted: they're encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM before they leave your device, and only your password (or your 12-word recovery phrase) can unlock them. Not even Conserved staff can read them.
On top of that: TLS for every connection, bcrypt for the login password, optional two-factor authentication (2FA), and EU-only servers with no third-country processors.
What happens if I delete my account?
All your memories, photos and account data are immediately and permanently deleted. There's no way to recover them, not even for us.
That's a deliberate design choice, in line with the GDPR "right to be forgotten".
Can I export my data?
Yes, always. You can export all your memories as:
· JSON for complete backups
· CSV for spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets)
· PDF as a physical book via your browser
No vendor lock-in, ever.
Can I share memories with family?
Yes. Each memory has its own privacy level (Only me, Family, Friends, Public). With "Public" you get a share link you can send to anyone, even to people without a Conserved account.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The whole service is free: 1 GB storage, unlimited memories, photos, exports, shared timelines, legacy contacts, all of it.
No ads, no data selling, no "free tier" that funnels you to a paid tier. We'll figure out a sustainable business model later; until then, every feature is on every account.
Where are your servers?
All data is stored on servers within the European Union. We're fully GDPR compliant and don't work with third parties outside the EU.
How long is my data kept?
As long as your account is active. We design Conserved to last 50 to 100 years, based on archival standards from the library world.
Can I import memories from another platform?
Yes, via the JSON import feature in your settings. You can import data in our export format.
